Floyd Mayweather Jr and Floyd Mayweather Sr comment on Manny Pacquiao’s defamation lawsuit

In a recent interview, Floyd Mayweather Jr and his father Floyd Sr both commented on the defamation law suit that Manny Pacquiao had filed against the Mayweathers and top members of Golden Boy Promotions. The law suit was in response to the public accusations, by the previously mentioned parties, that Manny was taking PEDs. Let’s examine these comments.

“Right now, there’s litigation going on with the courts. There’s really nothing to talk about. He ain't nobody anyway. I’ve never heard of anybody doing something like this in boxing.” Floyd Mayweather Sr, Las Vegas Sun

I can’t recall a lawsuit like this before between two prominent figures in the sport of Boxing. But, I also can’t recall a public bashing like this before. The extent that the Mayweathers have gone to bash Manny Pacquiao is beyond acceptable. They’ve attacked everything about Manny from his ethnicity, his success, his country, and his fellow countrymen.

They accused Manny of taking illegal drugs and saying that his career has been a big lie. They claim that Manny is scared to fight Floyd if he can’t take his PEDs. It has been arguably the worse personal attack I’ve ever seen in sports.

I actually think this response is hilarious. Floyd Jr has been involved in many lawsuits in the past mostly because of his own doing. There was the failed real estate venture and civil suits for his assault charges just to name a few.

It’s probably best that Floyd Jr didn’t specifically respond to the lawsuit. Everyone is waiting for him to open his mouth about it. I’m actually surprised that Floyd hasn’t really said much in regards to the lawsuit. It might be the smartest thing he has done.

Last I heard, Bob Arum talked about how Team PacMan will keep pursuing the lawsuit. They won’t pull it off the table if Mayweather and Pacquiao renew fight talks.

I actually commend Team PacMan for doing it. There has to be some limitation to the things people can publicly say. The Mayweathers went too far and something needed to be done. I’m not sure how successful PacMan will be in court. But I do feel he has already succeeded some by forcing the Mayweathers to restrain themselves from spewing so many false accusations.
